Clean water and a clean hot tub or spa are a couple of the most important things for hot tub users and it’s important that you understand this as a user / owner. So, if you want your hot tub or spa to remain in a perfectly hygienic condition you need to be prepared to put some time in to keep it that way on a regular basis. It may not be how you’d ideally spend your time but, as with all cleaning, it’s simply something which must be done. If you search online there are any number of potential health problems you can develop from using dirty or unhygienic hot tub water, however, it’s just a case of being sensible really; if you look after your hot tub or spa then it will look after you. We’ve teamed up with Aqua Spa Supplies to look at keeping your water clean in a little more depth!
Check Your Filter
Clean water depends on a number of different things and your filter is one of the most important. With this in mind, make sure you pay attention to keeping your filter clean so it can do the job it’s supposed to do. Using a product such as AquaSPArkle Spa Cartridge Cleaner, put on a pair of rubber gloves, protect your eyes and fill a bucket that is large enough to accommodate your filter cartridge with clean water. Add the appropriate amount of cleaner to the water and immerse the cartridge for at least eight hours or even overnight to remove oils and grease from the filter. Rinse thoroughly and allow to dry completely before re-fitting to your hot tub.
To keep the water clean on a daily basis you could use AquaSPArkle Spa Bromine Infused Granules to kill any organisms and bacteria that would otherwise cause you harm. They dissolve easily and won’t have much effect on the PH level of the water. Before use, test the PH level as it needs to be between 7.2 – 7.6, if not then adjust accordingly. If the temperature of the water is above 20 degrees then the granules can be added directly, if not then they can be pre-dissolved and added to the water with the pump turned on to aid distribution.
Above all else, if you clean your hot tub or spa regularly, it’s not a big job to set aside a little time and you’ll be glad you do, having a clean and relaxing tub to spend time in!2015-08-24
